Bronze Ladder Bowie

This classy, Gents-sized Bowie knife sits neatly in a narrow band of the visible light spectrum where orange, gold, and red all intersect.

The blade is a forged, ladder-pattern Damascus of 80CRV2 and 15N20 steels. The blade bevels were forged to shape, and although it's nearly impossible to photograph, the resultant pattern has chatoyancy not only along the primary ladder lines, but also across the bevels where each blow of the hammer left a little ripple in the finished pattern.

The sculpted Thorned guard is made from silicon bronze, and wears a light patina, taking it down from its proper gold tone, into a muted....well....bronze. Between the guard and the handle is a thin, nickel silver spacer with a classic Thorn and Vines filework pattern.

The handle is a gorgeous piece of Australian Ringed Gidgee, sculpted for a comfortable grip, and accented with crisp corners, finished to a satin luster with several coats of hand-rubbed oil finish.

The sheath has a quilt pattern tooling (can you see the little campfires around the edge?), in a high-ride, right handed configuration.
