Breaching Axe
Slightly longer with a slightly larger and heavier head than my Camp Axes, these Breaching Axes are forged from retired leaf springs (5160). The small piece in the photo is all that is needed to forge a whole axe. These are incredibly strong and capable, overbuilt in the tradition of the kinds of places where you need a tool that will last longer than you.
These integral (full-tang) axes are my handmade version of the tactical breaching axes that have found their way back into the kit of modern military men. The head is 7" wide, the cutting edge is 3.25" long, and each one is 13.5" overall. They are forged to shape with only the edges ground and satin finished.
The integral shaft is tapered for balance, and the curly maple handles are faceted for improved grip.
The handmade leather head cover is textured in my Dragonskin finish.
Each axe weighs 1.75 lbs.
