Damascus Santoku
A useful tool doesn't need to look utilitarian. It can look elegant, sleek, classy. It took me a long time to embrace the idea that as a knife shed its utilitarian image, it lost nothing from its usefulness. And I don't know what it is about using beautiful tools to make beautiful things....maybe it's the spark of our creator reminding us that beauty only comes from beauty.
The blade is a woodgrain pattern Damascus of 80CRV2 and 15n20 steels, this one particularly "watery" in its damascene appearance. The blade is very hard and very thin, making it a joy to use.
The handle is a stunning piece of Austrailian Ringed Gidgee. It has been faceted and sculpted, then attached with three small nickel silver pins, lined with polished white G-10.
Knife comes with a handmade leather blade sleeve.
Blade length: 7.5", width: 2.3" (at the heel), Overall length 12.5"
