F&S Hunter - Damascus
This is the model I made for Field & Stream Magazine, April/May 2018 issue, and featured on the cover of the Field & Stream Total Knife Manual. The 4-1/8 " blade is long enough to handle skinning and cleaning of game, with a point fine enough for detail work. The tang is also fully tapered for better balance.
The blade is a very fine (what guys used to call Maiden's Hair) Firestorm pattern damascus (80CRV2 and 15N20). The pattern is deeply etched and has wonderful chatoyancy when seen in person. The blade bevels are hollow ground for a very thin cutting edge.
The handle is stabilized curly maple with black micarta pins and carbon fiber lanyard tube. Hand-fitted and moulded leather pouch sheath is right handed, and finished in my Autumn leaf pattern.
Blade Length: 4-1/8", Overall Length: 8-3/4"
Note: there are a couple of these available, and although the figure in the wood is very similar, the photo here may not be the exact knife you will receive.
