Integral Hunter

A forged full-tang integral is one of the most pure, technical, blade-forging projects, and I think it's the technical challenge that keeps it interesting. From forging a flat blade from round stock, to aligning the blade and tang, and then grinding all those matching curves, to fitting and shaping the handle scales, the finished blade needs to be straight and aligned, and it has to be done all by hand.

Forged to shape from .590" round 52100, then flat ground with a convex edge, this blade is light and sharp as it is tough and durable. The blade is tumbled, giving a uniform finish to all the exposed steel.

The black linen micarta handle scales are ground to mate to the curved transitions of the steel and secured with micarta pins.

The sheath is a vertical pouch, right handed. I used a multi-step finish I came up with for this project that gives the leather a very subtle weathered, mottled finish, intended to mimic the tumbled blade finish.

Blade length (from bolster): 3.5", Overall 7.5"
