Reticulated Camp
$ 2,800.00
This is a very simple piece: one blade, two pieces of wood and some pins - yet within those few materials there is a lot of complexity.
The blade is forged from my 410 stainless over 80CRV2 Laminated steel. The primary bevels are deeply hollow ground with prominent secondary bevels, like the grinds on cavalry sabres. The hollow grinds reduce weight (like a fuller), reduce drag when cutting, but in this case they also cut deeply into the carbon steel core, revealing nuances in the pattern otherwise unseen. Natural forge texture remains above the grind, and even the false edges are hollow ground.
The handle is shaped from a big piece of Ringed Gidgee I purchased from Australia. It is oil finished and attached with polished, domed, nickel silver pins.
The sheath is a deep pouch of Dragonskin, with a solid Ringed Gidgee belt stud (my favorite way to carry a big knife).
Blade length 11.5", Overall just over 17"
