Camp Axes
$ 1,100.00
While roughly the size of a camp knife, these camp axes excel at the heaviest camp chores. The have huge chopping power and the spike is there for all the things you don't want to use the cutting edge for. On a related note, can anyone tell me why everyone on The Walking Dead wasn't using a spike axe by at least Season 2? I'll tell you why...it would get boring because these things never need reloading, they don't jam, and while they weren't braining the undead, they could have used it to build a decent wall.
These integral (full-tang) camp axes are my handmade version of the tactical breaching axes that have found their way back into the kit of modern military men. They are forged to shape from 5160, differentially tempered, with only the edges ground and satin finished.
The integral shaft is tapered for balance, and are available in two different handle variations. The first (on the left) is the Classic Curly Maple so often seen on Kentucky long rifles. The second (on the right) is Toasted Curly Maple, which uses high heat to caramelize the sugars in the wood and give the caramel brown color. Both handles are faceted for excellent grip and indexing, and are finished with several coats of a hand-rubbed oil finish.
The handmade leather scabbard keeps it safe when not in use, and I have added a loop to the back side, making it to easier to lash to a pack or harness.
Cutting edges are 3.1" long, Head width is 6.25" from edge to tip, Overall length is 12.75", with an overall weight of 25 oz, including the scabbard.
